Dave Long over Lock Haven in 1948 |

I had lunch today with Rob Long, Don
Shearer and John Lowery - we went to Pottstown for some GROWLERS! While in Rob's office, I admired the above photo of his dad, Dave Long, in his Midget Mustang, so
he gave me a digital copy for my website (above). Dave was killed in a plane in 1950, but today there are hundreds
of his design still flying. In fact, #67 above is still operational. Neat, huh? kp 10/8/2009
PS: I never met Rob's dad, but his mom, Barbara Long, was really nice. She was County Treasurer
for many years.
Hey Rob, remember the gig at the Centre Hills Country Club!
Ha!
Now here's a coincidence. A couple weeks
ago Tom Gratz and I were driving down to Helen's Famous Sausage House in Smyrna, Delaware for breakfast. My
brother-in-law, Chris Sydlowski, told me about Helen's. So I was driving down Route 13, and I remembered that Rob moved
to South Delaware, but I didn't know where in Delaware. I pulled over and called him on my cellphone. I told him
I was on my way to Helen's, and he asked where I was. I said at the red light in Odessa. He said you're only a
couple minutes from my house! He said he and Paula go to Helen's occasionally. So we stopped by and took
him along. After breakfast we toured his beautiful new home. Jeffersonville isn't the same without Rob &
Paula :( kp 9/5/2011

. . . remember the gig at the Lewisburg Penitentiary Officers Club? You could really book 'em.
Just happens that a few years later, I knew a guy who worked in the Pen, Spence Craybill; and later yet I had a friend who's
brother worked there too, sort of . . .

Speaking of prisons, now here's a guy who can
get you a tour of one, or even arrange for a stay, short term or long term.

PRESIDENT JUDGE J. Michael Williamson I remember our first day in algebra class at
Lock Haven Junior High, second floor, Miss Z. I don't think Mike lasted a week in Miss Z's class, and he headed for
the hills . . . The Hill School, that is. But I was brave and stuck it out - and - did better than expected. I landed a D- . .
. ha! And I'm here to say that I never once, not once, in my whole entire lifetime, needed to use algebra!
But maybe that's why Mike is the Judge, and I'm not? (Solving
for the unknown, get it? Judge . . . never mind.)

Steve Poorman, former owner of Realtylease Corp. conducted
the largest combined real estate deal in the history of Clinton County, June 2009. The transaction of Poorman's properties
to The Rainier Group L.P was approximately $6 Million.
Steve is my bro, I might add!

Another Poorman of note from Lock
Haven . . .
Oh . . . another Lock Haven Sports Hero . . . Eddie
Draucker (wrestler). Ed won a District title and became Lock Haven's first State champion by pinning
Forty Fort's returning State runner-up Bob Bach in the 105-pound finals of the 1940 State tournament. Ed was a
good egg. Treated us kids good at his establishment. Liked him. (Wow . . . he was State Champ before I was
born. He didn't seem that old to me.)

I enjoyed working on Mr. Bossert's
campaigns for PA State Assemblyman, and I respected him and appreciated his mentoring.
