A brief life chronology of Ken Poorman . . .

Born in Lock Haven PA and raised in Castanea 40's & 50's . . .

I was raised by Mom & Dad on Brown Street in Castanea PA, along with my brother Steve Poorman and Nellie, Sport, Tippy, Drake and Lady. Guess I'll add to these notes as time permits . . . now that I'm retired, Diane has given me quite a list of projects to get accomplished in 2013. I thought retired meant not working . . . Ha! I went to Castanea Elementary for 8 years, then graduated from Lock Haven high school in 1960 (I hated high school).

Did military service and education in the 1960's & 70's . . .

After high school I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was inducted at Philadelphia, PA. I went to boot camp in San Diego, CA. I went to the Navy School of Music in Washington D.C., then did sea duty with COMCARDIV FOUR's Band on USS Kitty Hawk, USS FDR, USS Shangri-La and Med Cruise on USS Forrestal. I finished up active duty with CINCLANTFLT in Norfolk VA.

After completing active duty in the Navy I attended W.A.C.C./Penn College for two years, then Penn State for four . . . and also took credits at Villanova, Temple and West Chester U.

Focused on carreer in the 1980's and 90's . . .

After the Navy I worked at Piper Aircraft in production at Lock Haven PA. Then as a Deputy Sheriff for Clinton County PA, and retired from Bell Telephone after 28 years. I retired again after 12 years at Harleysville Insurance. I built commercial websites for about 5 years, then worked for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for about 5 years . . .

Gearing down in the 2000's . . .

I am finally retired in 2013, and Diane and I are raising two great granddaughters . . .

. . . just ridin off into the sunset now . . .
